Introduction to Music Technology for Creative Artists (2 credits) at Hamline University

Supercharge your artistic voice this summer with hands-on Music Production instruction offered as part of the partnership between Walker West Music Academy and Hamline University.

This 2 week summer workshop intensive dives into music production skills, explaining and exploring: Beat making, in-the box songwriting workflow, MIDI and virtual instrument use, proper gain staging for vocal recording, and basic mixing principles. Whether you are a songwriter, a poet, instrumentalist, podcaster, music teacher, or simply looking to further develop your understanding of music technology, this opportunity is for you!

Age requirements: students entering 10th grade and older. No prerequisite knowledge required.
When:
July 10-21, 2023, 2 weeks (M-F), 10am-2pm. 4-hour daily sessions, to include 3 hours of instruction plus 1 hour for lunch (lunch provided). Final day would be 10am-3pm for final preparation, presentations, reflection, and evaluation.

Classes will meet in-person at Hamline University, in the basement of Bush Memorial Library (BML 18),
