Tuition Assistance

Policy:

Walker West Music Academy is committed to teaching music to any individual who wants to learn. In support of that commitment, it receives funds from individuals, corporations and foundations to allocate toward student tuition fees through the merit based Scholarship Program and the need-based Tuition Assistance Program. Walker West Music Academy will keep all applicant information confidential and will not discriminate on the basis or age, political affiliation, race, national origin, disability, sexual orientation or religious belief.

Requirements:

Students are allowed to cancel one lesson per session and receive a make-up lesson. Additional lesson cancellations made by the student may prevent the student from receiving Tuition Assistance in the future. Parents/students are required to support the Academy through volunteer efforts. Student/family skills and interests are taken into consideration. Volunteer activities include assisting with program activities such as recitals, events, performances and assisting with administrative tasks like front desk coverage and fundraiser related tasks. We also appreciate help with maintenance, general upkeep and beautification of the Academy!

Procedure:

Any student interested in taking lessons at Walker West Music Academy may apply for Tuition Assistance. Applications are accepted anytime before each session, and will not be accepted after the first week of lessons. At the time of registration, each student is required to submit:

  • Registration Fee of $40 (paid once a year, per family)
  • Tuition for first two lessons ($64.40 to $69.00 per student)
  • Completed Tuition Assistance Application

A committee will review all applications and designate the amount of assistance to each applicant based on the availability of funds, the student commitment to music (length of time taking lessons at WWMA and attendance record), and the financial need of the student/family as described in the application. If the assistance is not provided or if it is not enough the student/family may elect to continue lessons and pay for them weekly or monthly by arranging a payment plan with the Student Services Coordinator, or the student/family may terminate lessons and have any unused portion of the paid tuition fees refunded.
